"Supporting You and Your Firearm Rights"

Volume 1 No. 3

Welcome to the 3rd issue of our newsletter. From our humble beginnings last November we are now over 700 members and growing. Please join us in the fight to save your firearm rights.

BILL C-68 NOT YET LAW

Despite what many people seem to think, Bill C-68 is not yet law and is encountering considerable difficulty in the Senate. Many Conservative senators have expressed serious doubts about the cost and effectiveness of the bill. Many have stated outright that they will oppose the bill. Senate hearings to review the legislation are scheduled for late September. It is not too late to write to the senators and let them know your feelings about this unjust bill. We can provide free name labels and envelopes. Feel free to call any Executive member for information but DO IT NOW!!!

ONTARIO CONSERVATIVES OPPOSE BILL C-68

As promised before the June election, the Harris Conservatives are opposing Bill C-68. With Ontario joining the "No" side, 4 provinces and 2 territories now officially oppose the bill while British Columbia and New Brunswick have expressed serious concerns as well. While you arewriting to the senators, drop another note to the MPP's (we have free address labels) to thank them for their support and ask them to continue to pressure Ottawa to change the bill. The Chretien Liberals cannot afford to ignore the feelings of Canada's largest provincial population. Recent polls show that public support for this bill is dropping fast as people become more aware of how it is yet another infringement on their rights as Canadian citizens.

**SEPT. 28/95 GUN SHOW WITH SPEAKER JACK RAMSAY**

On Thursday, September 28, 1995, The Sporting Clubs of Niagara have scheduled Mr. Jack Ramsay, the Reform Party Justice Critic as a guest speaker. Mr. Ramsay is one of the strongest, most knowledgeable pro-gun allies we have in Ottawa. Take the opportunity to hear him speak, ask him questions and at the same time browse through our 40-50 table gun show. SEE THE ENCLOSED FLYER FOR MORE INFORMATION.

REFORM PARTY GUN CONTROL POLICY

While the Sporting Clubs of Niagara has no political affiliation it does endorse any party that has a platform sympathetic to gun owners. The federal Reform Party has taken such a position and we are enclosing a flyer which outlines their official policy on this issue. We urge you to read it.

UNITED WAY SUPPORTS ANTI-GUN ORGANIZATION

The YWCA has recently come out in favour of Bill C-68, claiming it will reduce violence against women, despite the fact that there is no hard evidence that this is the case. The YWCA receives funding from the United Way. Contact the United Way and ask them why they are subsidizing an organization that supports infringing on your rights as a citizen. Indicate that if they continue to do so, perhaps your hard earned dollars could do more good donated to charities that are more interested in helping the unfortunate than taking away your rights, property and hobbies.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

1. Join The Sporting Clubs of Niagara. For as little as $10 per year (the cost of 1 or 2 boxes of shells) you can aid the fight to protect your property and recreational activities.
2. Encourage your family and friends to join. The more voters we represent the more influential we are with politicians. Just ask the provincial Liberals.
3. Volunteer your assistance. We need people to submit articles, deliver newsletters, organize local rallies, serve on the Executive, etc. To find out how you can assist in any way, please contact any member of the Executive.
4. Make an extra donation. Advertising, hall rental, postage, etc. all cost money. Any amount you can spare helps in the battle to achieve the goals of the organization.
